Case Study –
Addenbrooke’s ‘Widening Access’ project

Our long-standing client, Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust, approached Cambridge Printing for assistance with the production of printed material for their ‘Widening Access’ project – an initiative set up to recruit new staff for the hospital.

The project was to design a large panel to be installed on the wall in the foyer of the hospital. The brief was very specific – the design was to be simple, clean, eye-catching and bold and was to use life-size figures in different uniforms to represent the various different roles and job opportunities within the hospital. The plan was to incorporate a screen within the panel on which would be played career information, in the form of Powerpoint presentations.

For our designer, part of the challenge was created by the scale of the project – the size of the cut-out figures meant that they had to be very accurate – also photographs of individuals had to be taken from similar angles in order to ensure a consistent result.

Jane Brook, Recruitment Manager at Addenbrooke’s is pleased with the way in which the project was handled:

“Cambridge Printing worked with us all the way through the project, not just creating the design but also suggesting the most suitable methods of displaying the images that would prove to be the best value. They regularly visited the site to make design adjustments and measurements to ensure it was accurate and also liaised with our Estates team so that all aspects of the project – including electrics! – fit with the design. We are very happy with the final result and since the wall was finished in April, we have had many recruitment queries based on people seeing the wall.”
