Skills Recognition Scheme

Three of the six awards presented to us in 2003 were in recognition of our training and development programme: the Skills Recognition Scheme. The awards won were the BPIF National Training and Development Award, the National Training Award (East of England), and Printing World’s Heidelberg Print Media Academy Award for Training.
This scheme is one of the key elements that underpinned the radical transformation of Cambridge Printing between 1999 and 2003. The scheme, a competency-based system of training and development, pay and reward, was cited by the Printing World judges as an excellent example of what could be achieved through training investment in times of rapid change.
